The National Testing Pool (NTP) consists of: - athletes who are on teams in team sports including Senior Inter-County in GAA, Division 1A&B in Men's Rugby, Mens and WOmens SuperLeague in Basketball and Senior Inter-County Camogie
- athletes who are in National Squads in certain sports including Swimming, Triathlon, Athletics, Cycling, Boxing
Athletes in the NTP can be drug tested both in- and out-of-competition. Out-of-competition testing will mainly be based on squad/team training sessions but the Irish Sports Council may test an athlete at their home address. Both urine and blood samples can be requested. The NGB and the ISC agree what teams or squads meet an eligible category for inclusion in the National Testing Pool. In these sports, either a designated person for each team, or the anti-doping officer for the sport, submit 'Whereabouts' information to the Irish Sports Council. Whereabouts information includes training addresses, travel arrangements, competition schedules etc. to ensure availability for testing at all times. In the case of teams, a team secretary/manager will submit the 'Whereabouts' information.
