How to Access Services Since March 1 2010 the National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBs) are now responsible for managing the provision of sports science, medical and lifestyle services. Each NGB has an appointed service manager that athletes must contact PRIOR to service delivery. This person is known as the First Point of Contact. This ensures that the services are effectively utilized, managed and delivered in support of high performance.
Reporting Structure
Reporting Process - The athlete reports to the NGB HP First Point of Contact.
- The NGB HP First Point of Contact reports to the NGB Medical Services Coordinator.
- The NGB Medical Services Coordinator will oversee the coordination of the injury.
- The NGB HP Medical Officer is the person with ultimate responsibility for the clinical management of an injury/illness of an athlete within that sport.
- Where necessary the NGB HP Medical Officer should report serious injuries/illnesses to the IIS Director of Performance Medicine.
First Point of Contact A vital component of NGB high performance team is the First Point of Contact. This person is responsible for the coordination of the people involved in the management of services and ensuring that agreed actions are carried out.
