Since its establishment the Irish Sports Council has sought to develop and progress the aim of increased participation for all through a variety of resources and means, including the development of a network of 32 Local Sports Partnerships throughout the country.

These partnerships combine the best efforts of the Local Authorities, Vocational Education Committees, Health Sector, sports bodies and other community and voluntary pillars in seeking to improve the planning and coordination of sport and recreation at county level throughout the country.
